How To Link to an eCriteria Database The beauty of the eCriteria Web database publishing facility is that you
can directly link to your database from your existing website. This means that
your site can have immediate dynamic database searching and data entry functionality by
simply adding a hypertext link over to eCriteria. It's that simple! What's more, your Web
database solution is hardware and software independent so you don't have to worry if your
ISP or hosting company supports databases, or if they do, what type of database. eCriteria
relieves you of the technical difficulties of adding database content to your website.
Here's a few quick easy steps for linking to your eCriteria
database:
| Step 1 |
Create your database by clicking on the
Data Authors button on our home page, and use the Web Database Publishing
Wizard which will walk you through a series of steps. You must register for a customer
account in order to create a Web database. During the last step
of the Web database publishing process, you'll be asked for a unique database name
and optional password. Make sure you remember this information, as you'll need
it later when building the hypertext link. |
| Step 2 |
Now that your database is created, you
should test its functionality by going to the Data Users section of eCriteria and try
adding some records, or doing some searches, depending on the type of database you created. |
| Step 3 |
The last step is to locate the page on your
existing Web site, and add a hypertext link to your eCriteria Web database. You
can generate the correctly configured URL for your eCriteria database by logging in as a
Data Author, clicking on the "Generate URL link" button, selecting the database
you wish to attach to your website, and adding the URL link to your Web site. |
